TULLBORO & MCHUGH SCORE BREAKTHROUGH WIN

Author:- Redline Media

AFTER a few times of trying over the past two seasons, the Tullboro team and Lachlan McHugh combined to score their first 410 Sprintcar feature race victory during last Saturday night’s $5,000 to win Hoedown at the Showground event at Castrol Lismore Speedway. In what was his fifth appearance with the Tullboro team in two seasons, McHugh, whose best finish with the Tullboro team was a second-place finish at Lismore Speedway and a third-place finish in the Queensland Title last season, was in great form throughout the night aboard the Qld # 74 TLC - Territory Logistics Company / CBE Earthworks Pty Ltd supported Triple X car and he was rewarded for this with victory in the Hoedown at the Showground.

Tullboro team owner / manager Brodie Tulloch was thrilled to get his first 410 Sprintcar victory with McHugh, who had started the feature race from position two, after he had
earlier in the night qualified third quickest in time trials before winning his opening heat race and then running third in the second and final heat race. “As everyone knows, Lachlan (McHugh) is a world class Sprintcar driver, and anytime that we can team up is something I’m really grateful for,” Tulloch said.

“For us to get our first feature race win together is very special, as our small team works very hard to provide our drivers with the best of everything, and it’s always a big thrill when everything comes together, and we can come away with the win with a driver of Lachlan’s calibre behind the wheel of one of our race cars.” Heading into the Hoedown at the Showground event, it was far from the ideal lead up following Tulloch and his team forced to rebuild a car following the previous weekend’s Ultimate Pink Night at Toowoomba Speedway in Queensland.

“A massive thanks must go out to my whole team for all of their efforts in getting the car ready for last night’s meeting,” Tulloch praised. “It was a big effort from a lot of people over the past week to rebuild the car, and to be able to get Lachlan (McHugh) in the car and go on to take the win is the best possible way to thank everyone for their efforts.”

Making it a double podium celebration for the Tullboro team last night, Mitchell Randall drove the team’s # 11 car to a minor podium finish in the NSW LS 360 Sprintcar Title.
After starting from position nine in the feature race field for the NSW Title decider, Randall, from nearby Casino, used every ounce of his local knowledge around Lismore Speedway to move into a podium spot late in the 25-lap event to greet the chequered flag in third. It was a fantastic performance from Randall, who had well and truly earned his place on the podium following a mixed run during the earlier qualifying heat race action.

“Mitch (Randall) drove superb in the NSW Title and was thoroughly deserving of his place on the podium,” enthused Tulloch. “Due to being sick, I was unable to attend last night’s race meeting myself, so a big thanks to Paul for making the trip to crew chief the ski boat engine in the # 11 car and then go on to pick up a NSW Title podium result. After such a strong result, it makes you wonder what the result might have been for Mitch had he started in the first two rows of the feature race.”

The next outing for the Tullboro team is going to be this Saturday night’s latest Ultimate Sprintcar Championship round at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway.

Special Thanks: Jamie McHugh for crew chiefing the # 74 car for his son and a father and son racing together is priceless in our eyes. Thanks to Brian Williams and Luke Williams for the transport and the mid-week effort. A massive thanks to our team of Jesse Tulloch, Ash Burton, Telita Allport, Scott Campbell, Jason Burton for the hard slog in the shed night after night. We build more cars than any team should, so it is truly a team effort! This time a week ago the team had one canoe and one pile of scrap metal, so to turn two cars around to score podium finishes is a stella effort. A big thanks to Justin Burr and Nigel O’Neill for their help in getting done what needs to happen. Also, thanks to Brad and Ben Hilder for fitting the team in at BHR Fabrications to repair the # 74 car following last weekend’s crash.
