Over 35 Sprintcars are set to contest round 2 of the Queensland Speedway Spares Ultimate Sprintcar Championship at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway this Saturday 18 October.

The event doubles as Men’s Mental Health night, a race meeting with a powerful purpose. It is more than just racing – it’s a stand for men’s mental health, mateship and breaking the stigma. This Saturday’s event isn’t a fundraiser, it’s all about checking in and showing up for each other. The venue is encouraging everyone to “black-out” the Speedway venue by wearing black. The blacked-out idea is about being a conversation start, to empower everyone to check in with a mate and most importantly encourage everyone to know that it’s not too weak to speak. Just like a race car, if something’s not right, you have to pull in to fix it. It’s okay to speak up and ask for help if you aren’t feeling okay. If you do struggle to ask for help or don’t have anyone to talk to, there are so many wonderful organisations that are only a phone call or a text message away.

After Lockie McHugh won the opening round of the Queensland Speedway Spares Ultimate Sprintcar Championship a couple of weeks ago, he comes into the event as the series leader and a red-hot favourite. However, round one showcased the emerging talent such as Nic Whell and Jy Corbet who finished on the podium. The track produced some fantastic battles throughout the night, which is sure to be the case this weekend, with a special 2-heat format being contested. Jy Corbet who sits third in the series will be running the Monte Motorsport W17 at the Motorplex this weekend, along with series fourth place driver Harry Stewart who is also in Perth running the W4 Speedcar.  This will open the door for anyone to leap frog into the top 5 this weekend in this lucrative 7 round series that pays $5,000 to win every night as part of over $180,000 that will be paid out during this series in Toowoomba this season.

Modified Sedans are also on the program (25 nominations for Round 1 of the Toowoomba Steering & Suspension Smackdown Series), plus 23 Wingless Sprints and 14 Lightning Sprints.  Racing will commence at 5pm (Qld Time).
