The Tomer Speedway in Bordertown is quickly becoming Grant Anderson’s favourite racetrack in the country after capturing the 60^th Anniversary Sprintcar Jamboree on Wednesday night. At the debut of the new track during Speedweek Anderson set the track record in qualifying and he once gain set the quickest time in his flight on Wednesday before going on to claim the $10,000 winners’ cheque ahead of American Cory Eliason and South Australian Matt Egel.

“I didn’t really want to run the bottom that long, but I never saw anyone, so I thought it was the best place to run. This track is the best in the country right now. Anytime this place wants to run a Sprintcar race I will be here” added Grant with enthusiasm following his “pistol firing” wing dance celebration.

“As a team we are starting to hit form at the right time, and I can’t wait for the Australian Title this weekend”.

With Anderson leading the entire 35 lap finale it was easy to forget he was actually the leader as all eyes were the race for second with Egel, Elison, Ryan Newton and James McFadden continually trading positions on the wide-open high banks.

Eventually McFadden would finish fourth after starting from position sixteen, with Newton, Kerry Madsen, Marcus Dumesny, Randy Morgan, Callum Williamson and Glen Sutherland rounding out the top 10.

Heat winners were Newton, Kerry Madsen, Egel and Rusty Hickman, who was driving the Dave Challons owned #45.

Queensland youngster Kinser Claridge was victorious in the C-main while Randy Morgan defeated Brock Hallett, Jessie Attard and Andrew Priolo in the B-main.

The night unfortunately featured a few car destroying wrecks with the first being in heat 2 when Scott Enderl and Daniel Pestka made contact in turn four. The impact damaged the left down tube on Pestka’s Triple X chassis, a car that the SP Racing had only put together the day prior.

Mount Gambier’s Parker Scott became the first driver to roll over on the new track with the teenager hitting the turn two wall before launching high into the air. The front end of the car was destroyed but luckily Parker walked away from the scary incident.

The third major accident occurred in the A-main as Jackson Delamont rolled hard in turn one after contact with Dylan Menz following a two wide restart.
